Trolley Poles . . .Trolley Poles project was done for the Translink company in January 2005. These heavy duty structures are designed and built to withstand high loads generated by the electrical pretensioned wires. Also the base plate – shaft welded connection should be designed and built to avoid potential fatigue problems induced dynamically by traffic. These are practically immovable structures where deflection governs the design. On this specific project the customer’s request was to have a real load test performed based on a loading procedure outlined by their engineers. FEA Engineering designed and optimized these structures using advanced nonlinear simulations using ALGOR software. The results were presented to the customer prior the load test which was performed by POWERTECH Laboratories in Surrey B.C., Canada. The values predicted by FEA Engineering numerical simulations were matched by the real load test results thus allowing the customer to make the decision to accept FEA Engineering's design for another three types of trolley poles without requesting any additional load tests. The results of this project show once more the level of expertise of our engineering team as well as our commitment to provide our customers with high quality services using the most advanced engineering tools combined with over 25 years of experience.
